The Great Pumpkin Fest and Llama Walk

First Annual Great Pumpkin Festival and Llama Walk
Fundraiser for Multiple Sclerosis
Saturday, October 13, 2012
Help us celebrate fall and raise money for a great organization with this family fun day taking place at Faddegon’s Nursery on Saturday, October 13 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  All money raised will be donated to the Upstate New York Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.  This charity is near to our hearts as several members of our Faddegon’s team are affected by this disease.

The fun kicks off at 10:00 a.m. with lovely llamas from Wunsapana Farm (fun to say!) owned by the Conroy family.  Attendees will have the opportunity to walk these soft, fascinating creatures for what is described as an incredibly ‘zen-like’ experience.  Not familiar with a llama walk?  Check out this fun YouTube video to take a virtual walk!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebZeBWYfai4
Still not convinced?  Then watch this clip of Griffin, one of the Conroy’s llamas, as he enjoys a tub bath.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1&v=mf_gXB73UFw.  How can you not want to walk side by side with these characters?  A $5 donation per walker is suggested. The llamas are here between 10:00 and noon..

Starting at 11:00 a.m. will be a pumpkin carving contest for kids of all ages.  Those under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. There is no charge to enter the competition.  You can bring your own pumpkin from home or buy one from our pumpkin patch.  Then grab one of our special safety pumpkin carving tools and let the seeds fly!  We’ll clean up the mess.  The ‘carving station’ will be open until 2:30 p.m.  Judging will follow.  There are a number of judging categories, all with great prizes!

Running concurrently with the pumpkin carving will be the Pumpkin Olympics and fun prizes.  Competitions include pumpkin bowling, pumpkin seed toss, pumpkin putting, pumpkin shuffle race, and pumpkin ring toss.  Athletes can take breaks from the pumpkinmania by jumping in our Bouncy Bounce or enjoying apple cider and
apple donuts.  Suggested donations will
be asked for some of the activities.

From noon to 2:00 p.m. the SmileMonster makes his grand appearance.  This jolly character generates huge smiles wherever he appears.  Make sure to bring your cameras to capture magical family photos with the ‘big orange’. For a preview grin, check out www.SmileMonster.com. smilemonster

The Multiple Sclerosis Society will have an information table and helpful resources.   They will also be selling ‘Orange Wonder’ tulip bulbs for $1 as part of the fundraising efforts.  This is the ‘official’ flower of Albany, designated by Mayor Erastus Corning in 1948.

Mix in great nursery and gift shop specials, and this fundraiser will be a blast for kids of all ages.
Orange pumpkins, orange SmileMonster, orange tulips….  ‘Orange’ you going to have fun?!
