Plant a vegetable garden where the sun shines.  Vegetables need at least 6 hours of sun a day.

Plant where there is good drainage.  Water shouldn't puddle in your garden. Get yourself a great sprinker and a high quality hose that doesn't kink and tangle.  Well made garden tools are just like that favorite kitchen knife - they make all chores easier!  Don't have room for an in ground plot - no worries!  Vegetables love containers.  Mix them into your landscape and surround yourself with edibles!

The how to plant a vegetable garden is largely about soil preparation.  There is an old adage, 'There is not much sense in planting a $10 plant in a 10 cent hole!'  Vegetables need to grow and produce in a short amount of time.  Soil that is rich in compost and well cultivated will give your vegetables the support they need.

Cornell University provides a great growing guide for vegetables.  They list varieties and cultural guides for depth and spacing.

To my favorite honeydew, do you carrot all for me?
My heart beets for you, with your turnip nose, and radish face.
You are a peach. If we cantaloupe, lettuce marry.
Weed make a swell pear.
