Personality, Proportion and Placement For Garden Decor

Personality:

How would you describe your garden's personality?  Is your style formal, classical, whimsicalor modern? We all know and appreciate certain styles and colors. When choosing a gardenaccent, stay true to those preferences.  Use garden statuary to create an accent. As with home decor, less is generally more when choosing a focal point for your landscape.

Proportion:

Scale and proportion are extremely important in a garden setting.  The 8' fountain may look great in our garden center - but can also easily overwhelm a small landscape. Choose your accens with visual impact in mind.  Do you want your garden bench to blend in with your perennial garden, or do you need a bolder piece to add color to a plain evergreen hedge?

Placement:

Placement is the essence of creating a soothing environment.  Stone accent pieces, like benches and statuary, look natural nestled within a garden bed.  A fountain looks stunning surrounded by ferns or flowers.  The same fountain feels abrupt and unframed if placed alone on a lawn.   Make sure your statuary is level!  Even though the birds will still enjoy that tipping birdbath  ...  you will wish it were level!
